Quarantine measures due to Corona

If you enter Germany from a risk area, you are subject to a 14-day quarantine.
Current risk areas can be found on the website of the Robert Koch Institute: https://www.rki.de/DE/Content/InfAZ/N/Neuartiges_Coronavirus/Risikogebiete_neu.html

Please note that a quarantine cannot be carried out in an apartment where you share the bathroom and kitchen with other roommates. This applies, for example, to most rooms in the dormitories of the Studentenwerk and the Kiel University guesthouses.

It is not easy to find a quarantine-suitable apartment / room in Kiel for the 14 days. It is also important to ensure that you are provided with food during the 14-day period in an apartment. In case you go into quarantine, it would therefore be advisable to contact people you might already know in Kiel and to ensure that you are supplied with sufficient food that is allowed to import into Germany.

Shortening the 14-day quarantine

To shorten the 14-day quarantine period, you must submit two negative corona tests to the local health authority.

We recommend to have the first test done in your home country. The test must have been carried out no more than 48 hours before entry. Molecular biological tests (PCR tests) are currently accepted in principle from all states of the European Union and from the countries on this list of the Robert Koch Institute:
https://www.rki.de/DE/Content/InfAZ/N/Neuartiges_Coronavirus/Tests.html
Please check regularly whether the tests carried out in your country of departure are still recognised in Germany.

Almost all airports in Germany also offer tests that you can use after landing, e.g.

Munich:  https://www.munich-airport.com/travelling-in-times-of-the-coronavirus-pandemic-8395611
Hamburg  https://www.hamburg-airport.de/en/corona_testzentrum.php

After entering the country, you must in any case register with the responsible health authority. In Kiel, the notification is made by e-mail to infektionsschutz@kiel.de. In the email, please state your full name, date of birth, address and telephone number as well as the country of departure and the date of your last day of stay. The test result (from your home country or airport) must also be sent along. To report your data, please use the form "Aussteigekarte", which you may have already received on the plane
Please also note that a new test must be performed not before five days after entering the country (or the 1st test). Here you will find an overview of the local test centres. Only then will the public health department decide whether the quarantine should be shortened.
