Dear international students,

the lectures in the winter semester 2020/2021 will start on November 2, 2020. Prior to the start of the semester, we invite you to an orientation program, which will inform you about important aspects of studying at Kiel University. Due to the Corona Pandemic, courses unfortunately have to be held online.

The International Center's Jobstarter Program: Entry into the German Labor Market

    During your studies at Kiel University you will be required to organize your work independently which means you will have to be self-disciplined and use your time effectively. The purpose behind planning and organizing your time is not to make you a slave to your schedule, but to free you from unwanted frustration and anxiety. The aim of this webinar is to help you to recognize your time wasters, aim and organize your time effectively and get introduced to useful self-management tools to organize yourself during your study abroad. Learn how to take control and make things happen rather than things happen to you!

  • Studying abroad is an enriching experience for any student, but it is far more than just a shift from one place to another. The initial euphoria of being fascinated by distinct cultural perspectives can fade away after the initial `honeymoon phase´ and the added pressure of being immersed in a different academic culture can lead to stress and disappointment.
  • This webinar provides you with knowledge on basic assumptions, communication conventions and expectations of German academic culture. Learn more about culture shock and reflect on your own academic experiences to ensure a smooth start at Kiel University.

  • Sunday, November 1st from 12 to 2 p.m. or from 2 to 4 p.m.
  • When registering, please indicate which tour you would like to take part in.
  • Meeting point at the St. Nikolai church at Alter Markt
  • Please bring a mask with you!
  • We will show you the most important places in the city: the town hall, the "castle" of Kiel, the "Kiellinie" and some more attractions of our beautiful city at the seaside. The tour is a good opprtunity to get a first impression of the whole city and its most important orientation points.
