Short summary |
Intercultural learning helps us understand and value cultural diversity. This seminar will look at different definitions, dimensions and manifestations of culture. By focussing on our own perception of culture, and by raising awareness of our enculturation processes we will analyze our individual role and behavior in intercultural contexts. An introductory session on the principles of intercultural communication will help you to explore strategies for overcoming barriers to intercultural communication. In order to apply theory to practice you will be required to work in multicultural teams on different projects. Through mutual learning, mutual understanding and collaboration you will act as facilitators to bridge the gap between different worldviews and help each other appreciate resources that diversity offers. This seminar serves as a potential context for students to acknowledge intercultural competence as a key competence for their personal and professional development. |
