Course Content This module covers basic and some advanced concepts of consumer psychology (CP) in an agribusiness and food context. Emphasis is on understanding the drivers and processes of human behavior. Focal areas include CP as a multi-faceted discipline, activation, perception and evaluation, context effects, environmental atmospherics, affect-as-information, persuasion knowledge models, judgmental bias, learning, memory, concepts of self and others, personality, and persuasion. Learning objectives are addressed through a combination of lectures and group seminars.

Course Content The students learn how crop plants evolved from their wild ancestors. They learn basic breeding methodo-
logy and specific breeding programs for the respective crops. The features of different kinds of cultivars will
be understood. Emphasis will be given to biotechnological techniques like molecular markers and geneti-
cally modified plants. The students will also learn how genomic techniques are employed in modern bree-
ding schemes.

of natural resources include land-use conflicts between agriculture, environmental protection, urban expan-
sion, water management, tourism etc.

Furthermore, some proficiency in using spreadsheets and data bases would be beneficial. Additionally,
basic knowledge of population dynamics of animals in landscapes is recommended.
   

Information about course content, reading material, and additional information

Course Content Students understand the differences among the geometric objects polygon, line, and point and are able to
use them in GIS as basic units to depict and analyze population dynamics at the landscape level. Further-
more they are able to build thematic maps using these geometries. The participants are competent to work
with  public available spatial data (
EU-Directive INSPIRE, climate data). They will require skills to organize survey data for processing in
GISand will be able to understand the relevance of geographic coordinate systems.

Short summary This module covers basic and a few advanced concepts of marketing across cultures. It focuses on identifying and applying appropriate methods and concepts to support entrepreneurial decisions. Unlike international marketing, cross-cultural marketing specifically includes identifying and targeting customers within a country based on their cultural background. Learning goals and objectives are accomplished through a combination of interactive lectures and group work.
