The University of Kiel’s guest houses are where international researchers reside during their limited stays at the University, whether they are in Kiel to teach, do research or undergo specialised training. With the grand opening of its new guest house as of September 1, 2008, the CAU can now has more than three guest houses that provide a total of 74 residential units containing 120 beds in a choice location in Kiel.
The Guest House for international scientists and academics was the first Guest House of Christian-Albrechts-Universität built in 1974 on a beautiful estate in the wooded Düsternbrook neighbourhood, directly on the fjord. In 2008, an extension was built on the huge lawn of the Guest House. More...
The International Begegnungszentrum/IBZ, which opened on November 1, 1989, became the second Guest House of Christian-Albrechts-Universität. Its location is one of the most beautiful in Kiel, directly on the fjord and still within walking distance of the centre of the city. More...
The administration of the three guest houses is handled directly by the CAU’s International Center. Applications for guests to stay in one of the guest houses must be submitted in writing by the host institute. In exceptional cases it is also possible for a guest to apply directly with the International Center.
