Before you sign up for the Intercultural Competence Workshop (WIK), consider the benefits you will get! Is it really worth "sacrificing" an entire Saturday in addition to all lectures? Is it a good preparation for my stay abroad? I have only been in Germany for a short time, can I still participate? Or would you like to know what WIK is at all?

You can get an impression in the trial course! And your questions will also be answered! If you want to register directly for the workshop, you can do this directly on site. But even for all other who don't register it will leave with an "Aha - Effect"!

1 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. "BiLi, DaZ und Internationales - Zertifikatskurse für Lehramtsstudierende" - information event

Jun 13, 2019

Leibnizstraße 3, R. 220

The certificate courses of the Centre for Teacher Training enables students of teaching professions to apply and test their existing theoretical knowledge in a targeted and focused way in everyday school life. In the lecture three courses are presented, which on the one hand deal with (foreign) language acquisition in bilingual subject teaching as well as in DaZ teaching and on the other hand with the extraordinary commitment in the field of international and intercultural issues. What does staying abroad, the acquisition of languages, participation in intercultural trainings, involvement in international projects or attending a summer school mean for the future work at the school?
These and other questions will be clarified in the 45-minute information presentation and will be examined on the basis of the certificate course contents.
In an increasingly global world school has become an intercultural, even more heterogeneous space. The "Workshops and Certificates" are intended to enrich teacher training and offer prospective teachers the opportunity to sharpen their own profile already during their university training phase. Three certificate courses will be highlighted in the lecture:

The Bilingual Tuition Certificate offers a unique combination of foreign language and subject matter. At many schools in Schleswig-Holstein students have the opportunity to take part in bilingual English or French lessons. The certificate course gives students a focused insight into bilingual teaching.
The DaZ certificate offers prospective teachers an additional qualification for the language advancement of refugee children and young people by attending university courses and sitting in on classes at schools. The course offers students an intensive theoretical and practical examination of the subject of German as a second language.
The certificate "Teaching International - Designing a School Open to the World and Intercultural" aims to document, value and certify stays abroad, participation in international projects, language courses and the like.

The event will be in German language.

Do I get credit points for this?

Jun 13, 2019 from 05:00 PM to 06:15 PM

With this event, International and German students aim to make linguistic variety tangible for visitors. The fascinating „Klangbilder“ („sound images“) of different languages can offer the listeners an acoustic as well as an emotional connection to languages from all around the world beyond the needs of deliberate communication. Basis of these „Klangbilder“ will be excerpts of Antoine Saint-Exupéry's novella 'The Little Prince', read from translations in different languages, as well as other literature and poetry from numerous countries. Additionally, there will be a 'Gallery Walk' where English and German translations of all the presented literature can be found.

This event will be organized and presented in a cooperative effort by International and German students and is amongst other things a contribution of the Intercultural Mentors program, which is offered as part of the „Schlüsselkompetenzen“ by the ZfS. More on this at

7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Improvisation Theatre "Holzköppe" and Poetry Slam - it's fun and gives courage!

Jun 13, 2019 from 07:00 PM to 09:00 PM

Foyer Audimax

1st part: Improvisation Theater of the Studentenwerk
Spontaneously without a plan on stage. Improvisation theatre is a collision disaster of thoughts, ideas and impulses that land on stage in a controlled way and guarantee entertainment. Together with the audience the group Holzköppe Impro discovers the scenes in a humorous way.

2nd part: Poetry Slam is a modern variant of poetry competition, which enjoys increasing popularity especially among young people. The Poetry Slam event is about the presentation of self composed texts. These texts are called Slam Poetry. Slam Poetry mainly deals with current topics of society and is loved by people who want to express themselves first in writing and then orally without having to serve the demands of high literature. Language skills, language players and acting are in the foreground.

In the field of German as a Foreign Language it is about learning grammatical structures in a playful way, expanding one's vocabulary in the process, combining German with one's mother tongue, appearing alone or in a team, consolidating one's language skills. The main focus is on one thing:

    1. You can make mistakes.
    2. You learn to overcome speech inhibitions.
    3. You get to know other people.

The results of the seminar held in SoSe 2019 are to be shown to the general public.

The events will be in German language.

Organizer: Studentenwerk (Improtheater) and Department of German as a Foreign Language at the Center for Key Qualifications (Poetry Slam)
