Course Content What is language and how can we describe it? To answer these questions, this introductory lecture is designed to give you a first insight into linguistic issues. Step by step, we will work out some of the fundamental concepts and methodology employed in the analysis and description of language. We will take closer looks at the various core areas of linguistics, among them Phonetics and Phonology, Morphology, Syntax, Semantics, Pragmatics, and Language Acquisition.
